I found it so compelling that I called my mom, who lives in Atlanta. I hope this doesn't sound too strange, but she actually knows you and is an old friend of your sister-in-law (Laurie). My mom is Nancy (Skipper) Berry and she has asked that I express to you our hopes that you all are hanging in there together.

None of this sounds easy at all. You have such a beautiful family and I am always so inspired to read your hopeful words here.

Best wishes you you, Katherine, and your families.

Ashley HarwardAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-668564752732504764.post-3529269351686449322009-08-20T15:45:21.051-07:002009-08-20T15:45:21.051-07:00I wonder how it is that with every post, you touch...I wonder how it is that with every post, you touch upon a subject that I was just contemplating myself. They are always so relevant to my own life. Makes me feel not so alone and strangely comforted.

I'm so glad that you all were able to relax on your vacation and that you were all able to be together. I am so happy about Katherine's news--I know that has been something that she has been very concerned about. I knew it would happen when it was supposed to happen, just like everything in her recovery. You all are such an inspiration.

Much love,

DesireeAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-668564752732504764.post-87406880449296992472009-08-18T22:50:41.540-07:002009-08-18T22:50:41.540-07:00Oh my heart just aches reading this post!Oh my heart just aches reading this post!jennyhopehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17549550675852269948noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-668564752732504764.post-65049012732477839092009-08-18T19:52:03.199-07:002009-08-18T19:52:03.199-07:00"It seems to me that all of life is bitterswe..."It seems to me that all of life is bittersweet.

The very sweetest moments carry within them the intrinsic sadness of impermanence and mutability. We cannot really keep anything. Everything is passing away. Everyone is passing away. I remind myself that I am, too."

I reread this over and over and found it so quiet, so profound, like a whisper of truth that catches you off guard. Holding Charlotte there is always that sense of bittersweet joy and sadness that one day she'll be grown up and gone...or worse that she'll be grown up and hurting. I ache for you while you go through so much joy/sadness now. I thought this entire blog post pointed to the cross. What greater hope do we have than knowing this world and the hurt and anguish it contains--is NOT ALL THERE IS. Praise to be him. For one day there will be no more tears...he will wipe them all from our eyes...

We love you all. I'm not weepy ...I don't know how you do it. I'm not weepy and I don't want to be but every time you choke me up!

Regarding Katherine's news, I can only say it is a sign in more ways than one that she is healing. God won't break her heart with a child she can't care for the way she wants to. She'll keep healing until she's ready, even though she thinks she was ready five minutes ago.Laurelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06120847492230531939noreply@blogger.com
